Modified ride-on cars for early power mobility

Project Description:

Research shows that power mobility experience positively impacts overall development of young children with physical disabilities. However there is a lack of appropriate equipment for use with infants and toddlers that is inexpensive, accessible, acceptable to families and feasible for use in the child's environment. This project will explore the modification of inexpensive commercial ride-on toy cars for infants and toddlers with disabilities. Information and resources for adaptation relevant to the BC context will be provided through on-line resources, presentations and handouts. Options for funding of the toy and modifications will also be explored.
